THOMSON'S GAZELLE
(WB995) "Gazella thomsonii" inhabits Tanzania and Kenya. There is an additional isolated population in southern Sudan. Thompson's gazelles travel in herds of up to 200 members, but when they migrate thousands of individuals can be seen traveling together. This species migrates annually according to season. Males create a "mosaic" of territories that are intensely defended. A male from one territory may intentionally provoke another from a different territory. The two males lock horns and engage in a battle of force where injuries sometimes occur. These encounters happen as many as 20-30 times a day with an average of 2-4 conflicts. Our Large Gazelle Marionette stands nearly 38 inches tall and is operated by an easy-to-use control. |
